ECF is available 24/7 for filing by those with a login and password unless they are ordered otherwise by the Court. Regular hours are 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. There is an after-hours drop box and time stamp available at the Third Street entrance to the courthouse. However, documents that are labeled UNDER SEAL should only be filed during regular business hours and not left in the after-hours drop box.

Video Teleconferencing Policy

Videoconferencing (VTC) technology is available in several rooms at the United States District Court in Washington, DC. These systems can initiate or receive calls to and from virtually any compatible VTC system in the world. The priority use of the VTC systems is as follows:
- Use by a Judicial Officer
- Court administrative matters as authorized by the Clerk.
- Use by Counsel in a case pending before this Court.
- Use by Counsel in a case pending in another Federal Court.

The E. Barrett Prettyman Federal Courthouse met the age requirement for the National Register of Historic Places in 2002. It is under federal protection in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.
Requirements for Entry
- Prohibition of All Liquids, Aerosoles and Gels (in excess of 3.4 ounces (100 ml))

- Devices that Photograph, Record or Videotape

To enter the courthouse, all visitors must show a photo ID issued by a government agency, such as a driver's license, or a bar identification card.
Screening
All visitors are required to walk through a magnetometer and all bags, briefcases, and backpacks will be screened by an x-ray machine. If you set off the magnetometer as you walk through it, you may be asked to remove your belt, watch, or jewelry.
