Clerkship Information

Judge Sooknanan employs three one-year law clerks and follows the Federal Law Clerk Hiring Plan. Applicants should apply on OSCAR. Applicants without access to OSCAR may send applications to Sooknanan_Chambers@dcd.uscourts.gov. Applications should include a cover letter, resume, law school transcript, a list of references, and two unedited writing samples, all combined into a single PDF. Recommenders may send letters separately to Sooknanan_Chambers@dcd.uscourts.gov. Please do not call chambers about clerkship applications or send paper applications.

Internship Information

Judge Sooknanan also employs interns throughout the year. Interns are required to work at least 15 hours per week during the academic year and 40 hours per week during the summer. Interns may work remotely during the academic year but must work in person during the summer. If applicable, interns may receive academic credit for the internship.

Internship applicants may send applications to Sooknanan_Chambers@dcd.uscourts.gov. Applications should include a cover letter, resume, law school transcript with at least one semester of grades, writing sample, and a list of references, all combined into a single PDF.

Applications will be considered on a rolling basis during the following periods:

  • Fall 2026 internship: reviewed from April 15, 2026 to May 31, 2026
  • Spring 2027 internship: reviewed from September 15, 2026 to October 31, 2026
  • Summer 2027 internship: reviewed from December 15, 2026 to January 31, 2027

First-year law students may submit applications for Summer 2027 internships before fall grades are released but should submit an updated application packet once a complete transcript is available. Note: Judge Sooknanan has completed internship hiring through Summer 2026.
