Clerkship Information:
- Judge AliKhan employs three law clerks to assist her in chambers. Clerkship terms are for one year and typically begin in August. The judge welcomes applicants with diverse backgrounds, employment experience before or after law school, and an interest in government service or public interest work.
- Judge AliKhan is no longer accepting applications for the 2025-26 term. She will begin reviewing applications from 3Ls and law school graduates for the 2026-27 term on May 1, 2025. She will review applications from 2Ls beginning in June 2025, consistent with the Judicial Law Clerk Hiring Plan.
- Judge AliKhan will post all future clerkship opportunities on OSCAR. Law students and alumni who have access to OSCAR should apply via OSCAR.
- Applicants who do not have access to OSCAR may send applications as a single PDF consisting of a (1) cover letter, (2) resume, (3) law school transcript, (4) list of three references (who are not submitting letters of recommendation), and (5) writing sample to Judge_AliKhan_Clerkships@dcd.uscourts.gov. Applicants without access to OSCAR should also arrange to have three letters of recommendation sent under separate cover to Judge_AliKhan_Clerkships@dcd.uscourts.gov. Please do not send paper applications.
Internship Information:
- Judge AliKhan accepts applications from law students and recent law graduates for unpaid judicial internships. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with the following deadlines:
- Spring 2025 internship: October 15, 2024
- Summer 2025 internship: January 31, 2025. The summer 2025 application deadline is extended to February 14, 2025 for individuals who have had summer offers rescinded due to the federal hiring suspension.
- Fall 2025 internship: June 16, 2025
- Fall and spring internships are generally part time (~16 hours/week) and in person. Summer internships are generally full time (~40 hours/week) and in person.
- Fall and spring internship applicants who attend law school outside of the D.C. area should indicate whether they plan to be located in D.C. during the semester of their internship.
- Internship applicants should submit a single PDF containing a (1) cover letter, (2) resume, (3) law school transcript, (4) list of three references, and (5) writing sample. The application should be sent via email to Judge_AliKhan_Clerkships@dcd.uscourts.gov.
- First-year law students may submit applications before fall grades are released but should submit an updated application packet once a complete transcript is available.
