- Miscellaneous cases cannot be opened electronically by an attorney; they must be submitted in paper or by email (dcd_intake@dcd.uscourts.gov).
- The filing fee for a miscellaneous case is $52.00, unless filed by the government.
- The filing fee can be paid by:
- Check or money order (made out to Clerk, U.S. District Court) via mail, the drop box at the 3rd Street entrance of the courthouse, or over the counter;
- Credit card (in person payments only; we cannot take credit card numbers over the phone); or
- Pay.gov (See here for more information: https://www.dcd.uscourts.gov/pay-your-filing-fee-online ).
- If submitted by email and payment is required, the case will not be assigned and opened until payment is received.
- The filing fee can be paid by:
- Attorneys do not need to be members of the bar of this court to initiate or participate in a miscellaneous case.
- However, once opened, an attorney must file all subsequent documents electronically.
- To do so, an attorney may:
- Request “For Service Only” e-filing status; or
- Move for Pro Hac Vice admission (Note: Pro Hac Vice status is not required to participate or appear in court proceedings for MC cases).
